Construction Project Manager – K-12 / Commercial Construction
Location: Copperas Cove, TX | On-Site
A well-established Texas commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee major K-12 school construction, renovation, and addition projects in the Copperas Cove area. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with experience managing large-scale commercial, educational, municipal, or public-sector construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. The Project Manager will work closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Construction Project Manager Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, cost controls, and overall project performance
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, contracts, and project documentation
- Lead Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and communicate project progress to key stakeholders
- Partner with Superintendents and field leadership on project planning and execution
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations
- Identify potential project risks and proactively resolve schedule, budget, and construction challenges
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Mentor project and field staff while supporting overall team development
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience
- Experience managing projects for a general contractor (GC) strongly preferred
- K-12 school construction, education, municipal, government, or public-sector construction experience preferred
- Experience with renovations, additions, ground-up construction, or large capital improvement programs
- Strong knowledge of construction schedules, budgets, contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change management
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven construction environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management software
- Valid driver's license
