Own the Revenue Engine. Lead the Front End. Drive Growth.

The Manager of Sales & Preconstruction Operations is a newly added position to a highly successful and growing team. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving consistency, visibility, and execution across the front-end commercial process—spanning sales, estimating, and preconstruction.

You’ll lead the day-to-day coordination of the sales and estimating function, ensuring the right opportunities are pursued, bids are executed with discipline, customers receive timely and professional communication, and awarded work transitions cleanly into operations.

This role is ideal for someone who understands both the commercial and technical sides of construction and thrives in an environment where organization, accountability, and follow-through drive results.

What You’ll Own

Lead Sales & Estimating Execution

  • Manage daily workflow across sales, estimating, and bid coordination
  • Set priorities, track progress, and ensure deadlines and commitments are met
  • Align team efforts around the highest-value opportunities

Drive Estimating Discipline

  • Oversee the full bid lifecycle—from intake through submission
  • Ensure proposals are complete, accurate, and clearly communicate scope, assumptions, and risk
  • Support go/no-go decisions based on fit, capacity, and margin

Create Pipeline Visibility

  • Maintain a clear, real-time view of pipeline, bid activity, and forecast
  • Track key metrics including bid volume, win rate, and conversion
  • Provide leadership with actionable insights—not just data

Support Customer Experience

  • Ensure responsive, professional communication throughout the preconstruction process
  • Help prepare for client meetings, proposals, and pursuit strategies
  • Reinforce consistency in how value, scope, and commitments are presented

Own Sales-to-Operations Handoff

  • Ensure awarded projects are transitioned with clarity and completeness
  • Coordinate turnover meetings and documentation
  • Reduce surprises by aligning expectations across teams

Build Team Accountability

  • Set clear expectations around responsiveness, quality, and follow-through
  • Coach team members and address performance gaps directly
  • Create a culture of ownership, urgency, and closed-loop communication

Improve the System

  • Strengthen workflows, tools, and routines across sales and estimating
  • Eliminate bottlenecks and reduce rework
  • Help build a more scalable, disciplined commercial operation

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, estimating, preconstruction, sales, or project management
  • Experience managing people, workflow, or cross-functional coordination
  • Strong understanding of estimating, bid processes, and proposal development
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while keeping work organized and visible
  • Strong communication skills across sales, operations, and leadership
  • Confidence in holding teams accountable and driving follow-through

Preferred Background

  • Experience in structural steel or specialty commercial construction
  • Familiarity with CRM, estimating, or bid management systems
  • Experience leading estimators, sales coordinators, or preconstruction teams
  • Strong understanding of construction scope, exclusions, and project handoff

Why This Role

  • Own and improve a critical part of the business—where work is won or lost
  • High visibility with executive leadership
  • Direct impact on revenue, customer experience, and operational success
  • Opportunity to build structure, discipline, and scalability in a growing organization
  • Base salary $130K–$145K + bonus (OTE up to $190K), plus comprehensive benefits
