The Senior Wiring Technician is the technical lead on the shop floor — the most experienced set of hands in the shop after the Production Manager. This person is responsible for wiring the most complex customer orders, training and mentoring assemblers, owning the Eplan Smart Wiring workflow on the floor, and serving as the go-to resource for field troubleshooting. This is a craftsmanship role with significant upside: the right person can grow into a Shift Lead, Lead Technician, or — as new shops open — a Shop Foreman at Shops 2, 3, or 4.
Core Responsibilities
• Panel wiring: Wire complex UL 508A control panels, UL 891 switchboards, and PDUs to customer specifications with first-pass quality.
• Eplan Smart Wiring execution: Operate the Rittal Wire Terminal WT C10 and run the Eplan Smart Wiring tablet-guided workflow on the floor. Own the process — setup, maintenance, optimization.
• QC & testing: Perform continuity checks, hi-pot testing, and functional testing. Document test results per UL procedure.
• Training & mentoring: Onboard and train new assemblers in wiring standards, Eplan workflow, shop safety, and UL compliance.
• Process improvement: Identify wiring-station ergonomic and workflow improvements. Pilot new tools and techniques.
• Customer escalations: Support field troubleshooting calls — by phone or, rarely, on-site — for warranty or installation questions.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of panel wiring experience in a UL-certified panel shop — UL 508A, UL 891, or both.
• Deep fluency reading electrical schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, and wire-run schedules.
• Demonstrated experience wiring control panels, switchboards, or PDUs to commercial / industrial standards.
• Familiarity with hi-pot testing, continuity testing, and UL quality documentation.
• Physical ability: able to stand for extended periods, lift 50 lbs, and work in a shop floor environment.
• Clean record with respect to non-compete, non-solicit, and confidentiality obligations to prior employers.
Preferred Qualifications
• Direct experience operating a Rittal Wire Terminal or equivalent automated wiring machine.
• Eplan Smart Wiring tablet-guided workflow experience.
• Prior experience on data center or critical infrastructure jobs.
• Journeyman or master electrician license (preferred, not required).
Prior experience mentoring or leading apprentices on the floor.
