Geotechnical / Civil Engineer (Early Career)
Overview
Early-career opportunity for a Geotechnical / Civil Engineer to support site development and construction projects through field inspections, reporting, and technical analysis. This role offers a mix of office and fieldwork with strong mentorship and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Perform field inspections and testing for fills, foundations, retaining walls, utilities, asphalt, and concrete
- Document field observations and assist with report preparation
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and senior engineers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- 2 years of geotechnical, site civil, or environmental experience (internship or construction experience preferred)
- EIT or ability to pursue PE licensure
- OSHA HAZWOPER, ACI, NICET, or related certifications a plus
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Word, and Excel
- Exposure to geotechnical software (GSLOPE, Rocscience, KeyWall) preferred
Work Environment
- Combination of office and fieldwork; outdoor work varies by project and weather conditions
- Ability to work on uneven terrain and lift up to 50 lbs; PPE required in the field
Compensation
- $55,000–$80,000 base salary
- Mileage reimbursement, benefits, PTO, tuition assistance, 401(k), and bonus potential
