Process Engineer – Batch Chemical Manufacturing (Tolling Environment)
Location: Chattanooga, TN Area (On-Site)
A rapidly expanding batch chemical manufacturer is seeking two hands-on Process Engineers to support growth at its production facility. These roles are plant-facing and execution-driven, focused on operational support, process implementation, and scaling new customer work into full production.
This is not an R&D or desk-bound position. Successful candidates will spend significant time on the plant floor troubleshooting issues, driving improvements, and converting customer chemistries into safe, repeatable, and efficient manufacturing processes.
You will collaborate with a senior engineer while maintaining ownership of your projects and day-to-day challenges. The ideal candidate is practical, action-oriented, and decisive — someone who values progress and results while maintaining strong safety and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily production support and process troubleshooting
- Implement new customer formulations into batch manufacturing
- Drive improvements in cycle time, throughput, and yield
- Support SOP development, process changes, and safe scale-up efforts
- Partner closely with operations, maintenance, lab, and warehouse teams
- Specify and support installation of equipment improvements (pumps, instrumentation, etc.)
- Lead trials, startups, and occasional off-shift production support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred
- Experience in batch chemical manufacturing highly preferred
- Tolling experience not required
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environment
- Strong plant presence and ownership mentality
- Ability to move quickly while maintaining safety standards
- Lean / Continuous Improvement mindset
Specific chemistry background is less important than strong batch processing knowledge, execution capability, and the ability to translate lab or customer formulations into reliable plant operations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary up to $130,000
- 15% annual bonus opportunity
- Equity participation in a private equity-backed organization
- Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage — 90% company-paid
- 401(k) with 6% company match
- Three weeks of vacation
- Relocation assistance available
Why This Opportunity
- Immediate impact and high visibility
- Exposure to diverse chemistries and processes
- Significant autonomy and decision-making responsibility
- Rapid growth potential within a scaling organization
- Direct access to leadership
If you thrive in hands-on manufacturing environments and want to play a key role in scaling operations, apply now.
