Financial Controller Responsibilities and qualifications
– Must be very skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and financial software such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, ERP experience.
– 5–7 years progressive finance experience in hospitality or construction, controller level leadership experience.
– CPA license required (Certified Public Accountant).
– Strong knowledge of accounting standards (GAAP), and general industry practice.
– Able to monitor performance vs budget, provide variance analysis, action needed and work with others to achieve.
– Must be able to prepare, analyze and present accurate financial statements. Able to lead the budget process.
– Must be able to oversee all areas of daily accounting, (AP, AR, GL, Cash, Credit). Ensuring compliance and success.
– Must be a collaborative partner with operational leaders to achieve success and develop the team.
– Able to collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors and other agencies as needed.
– Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
– Able to stay organized and meet deadlines.
– Promote and live a positive workplace culture. Excellent communication skills. High level of ethics.
Financial Controller Preferred Background and Skills
– Certified Management Accountant (CMA or CGMA) is a plus.
– Master’s Degree is preferred (bachelor’s is a must), Finance or Accounting.
– Track record of successful audit preparation and successful audits.
– Track record of success mentoring and developing leaders.
