Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Arlington, WA
Job Summary:
In search of a Mechanical Engineer to support the product design, development, and optimization of the manufacturing process of high-performance insulation and fire protection materials for aerospace, aluminum, oil & gas, automotive, and various industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in thermal analysis, material testing, and mechanical design, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop lightweight, high-temperature insulation materials and components using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Conduct thermal analysis (FEA, CFD) to validate material performance under extreme conditions.
- Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to improve material formulations and production processes.
- Develop mechanical upgrades for industrial textile machines (e.g., loom adjustments, automated sewing systems, precision laser cutters, etc.).
- Perform prototyping, testing, and validation of insulation systems (thermal, fire, acoustic) in lab environments.
- Support customer-driven projects by providing engineering solutions for custom insulation applications.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing guidelines.
- Work closely with aerospace, aluminum, and industrial clients to meet industry standards (e.g., FAA, ASTM).
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement cost-effective engineering improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, thermal analysis, or materials engineering (experience with insulation, composites, or high-temperature materials is a plus).
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge with computerized weaving machines, sewing systems, laser cutters, and coating equipment, improve production efficiency and product performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in aerospace, automotive, or industrial insulation/fireproofing.
- Experience with ceramic fibers, polymer composites, or refractory materials.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance (FAA, ISO, ASTM).
