As a Senior Distribution Planning Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing the company’s power distribution network. This position requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering, expertise in grid reliability, and a keen ability to assess and plan for the future needs of the system. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with industry regulations, enhance system performance, and drive strategic infrastructure investments.

Senior Distribution Planning Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze system performance and develop short- and long-term distribution plans to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Utilize technical software and modeling tools to assess grid conditions, forecast future demands, and recommend system upgrades.
- Oversee inspection and maintenance programs for distribution assets, interpreting data and implementing improvements where necessary.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to industry standards and company objectives.
- Lead project prioritization efforts, including budgeting and forecasting for capital improvements.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for regulatory agencies, executive leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Support grid modernization initiatives and emerging technologies to enhance system resiliency and adaptability.
Senior Distribution Planning Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission and distribution (T&D) engineering, with a focus on distribution planning.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using power system analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Excel and other technical software for data analysis and forecasting.
- Understanding of NERC regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to work across multiple teams.
- Valid Maine driver’s license and ability to pass a background check per NERC standards.
