An established law firm is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join its Washington, D.C. office. Manage your own cases, build on your courtroom experience, and work alongside a collaborative legal team that provides support on complex matters.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of criminal defense experience, strong trial skills, and a commitment to responsive client service. Experience handling serious misdemeanor and felony cases from arraignment through resolution or trial is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage a criminal defense caseload from intake through resolution or trial.
- Develop case strategies and provide clear legal counsel.
- Keep clients informed and respond promptly to questions.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other court filings.
- Represent clients at arraignments, hearings, and trials.
- Collaborate with fellow attorneys on case preparation and strategy.
Qualifications
- Active D.C. Bar membership in good standing.
- 3+ years of substantive criminal defense experience.
- Strong knowledge of criminal law and criminal procedure.
- Meaningful courtroom and trial experience.
- Ability to independently manage a full caseload.
- Strong legal writing, client communication, and organizational skills.
