Shipping & Receiving Lead Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience, including team leadership
- Direct experience in the food or consumer packaged goods industry preferred
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree a plus
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to analyze data, address discrepancies, and manage priorities
Shipping & Receiving Lead Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience with Netsuite or similar ERP software
- Background in demand planning or forecasting
- Knowledge of supply chain principles and best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis
Shipping & Receiving Lead Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, coordinating all inbound and outbound activities
- Lead, train, and schedule the shipping/receiving team for efficient workflow
- Inspect shipments for accuracy, quality, and potential damage
- Maintain and update accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system
- Coordinate with carriers, logistics providers, and production teams to ensure timely pickups, deliveries, and operational continuity
- Investigate and resolve shipping or receiving discrepancies, ensuring adherence to safety standards and procedures
- Support physical inventory and cycle count processes
- Communicate regularly with supply chain and warehouse leadership regarding shipment status, space utilization, and operational needs
