Our client is seeking an organized and motivated Assistant Project Manager to support heavy civil and site development projects throughout Southern New Hampshire and the surrounding region. This position will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to help ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and safety standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with civil construction experience who is ready to take on greater project responsibility and continue developing toward a Project Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the planning and execution of heavy civil and site development projects.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and other project documentation.
- Support project scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and budget management.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, vendors, and field resources.
- Communicate regularly with Superintendents and Foremen regarding project progress, schedules, and potential challenges.
- Attend project meetings and provide timely updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, estimates, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
- Track project milestones, outstanding items, and closeout documentation.
- Help identify and resolve issues before they affect schedules, costs, or quality.
- Maintain accurate and organized project records.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in project engineering, project coordination, or assistant project management within heavy civil, excavation, utility, site development, or a related construction environment.
- Working knowledge of civil construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with both office and field teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related project management software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent field and project experience will also be considered.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local project sites as needed.
