Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- Fine-dining culinary experience at Michelin, James Beard-level, or similar high-caliber establishment
- Previous leadership experience as Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, or Lead Line Cook in luxury catering, private events, or renowned restaurants
- In-depth knowledge of scratch cooking and professional brigrade kitchen operations
- Polished, reliable, and comfortable working directly with VIP clients in private residences and exclusive venues
- Proven ability to lead and organize small- to medium-sized teams (2–10 staff) with poise and clear communication
- Willingness to participate in a two-day stage and tasting as part of the interview process
- Candidates must have a vehicle to travel to farmers' markets, etc.
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience with menu planning and event logistics for multi-course, fine-dining events
- Highly organized and self-directed with a strong systems approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable asking questions and seeking clarity
Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the executive chef to plan, prep, and execute private dining events at the highest standard
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the culinary team during each event, ensuring consistency and quality
- Serve as the company’s professional, personable point of contact when on-site with clients and guests
- Prepare detailed production lists; manage ordering, receiving, and inventory as assigned
- Champion food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness throughout events
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, high-performing team culture
