Associate Veterinarian Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
- Diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions using evidence-based veterinary medicine
- Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures within your level of expertise
- Provide urgent and emergency care, including patient stabilization and referral when appropriate
- Prescribe medications and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging results
- Communicate medical recommendations, treatment options, and follow-up care clearly and compassionately with clients
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records using SOAP documentation
- Collaborate with the Medical Director on medical protocols and patient care decisions
- Mentor and support veterinary technicians and assistants while fostering a collaborative team environment
- Promote exceptional client service and build long-term relationships through education, empathy, and follow-up care
- Assist in maintaining efficient hospital workflow while upholding the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism
Associate Veterinarian Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- 2+ years of experience in a private or corporate practice
- Active California veterinary license in good standing or ability to obtain licensure before employment
- Active DEA registration or ability to obtain one
- Strong diagnostic, surgical, and medical case management skills
- Commitment to practicing high-quality medicine with compassion and integrity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients and team members
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and time management skills
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support technical staff
- Commitment to maintaining accurate medical records and complying with all applicable regulations and hospital policies
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment while delivering exceptional patient and client care
