Trailer Mechanic Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on trailer repair experience
- Minimum 1 year of brake system experience
- Qualified to complete FHWA/DOT inspections
- Strong working knowledge of air, electrical, braking, and suspension systems
- General mechanical and body repair knowledge
- Valid, current driver’s license
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Trailer Mechanic Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair commercial trailers to established standards
- Conduct safety and compliance inspections, including FHWA/DOT
- Repair and maintain braking systems, suspension, air systems, and electrical components
- Complete work orders with accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environment
- Follow all safety, compliance, and quality procedures
