A leading specialty foodservice distributor is seeking a Business Development Specialist to drive growth within the Houston market. This role focuses on developing new business, expanding existing accounts, and partnering with sales teams to grow specialty meat and seafood programs with independent and regional operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business and expand specialty protein sales within the foodservice market
- Partner with broadline sales reps on ride-alongs and joint calls to identify and convert competitive accounts
- Consult with operators on menu opportunities, center-of-plate proteins, and product mix
- Identify competitor penetration and implement strategies to capture market share
- Provide product expertise on USDA grades, custom cuts, and seafood programs
- Track sales performance, identify lost business, and implement recovery strategies
- Support product launches, food shows, and sales training initiatives
Qualifications
- Foodservice distribution experience required
- Experience selling meat, seafood, or center-of-plate proteins strongly preferred
- Proven ability to develop new business and grow territory sales
- Strong relationship-building and consultative sales skills
- Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
