Tooling Design & Simulation Engineer Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience with MAGMA5, FLOW-3D, or equivalent 3D flow, thermal, and solidification simulation tools
- Strong expertise in die casting tooling design, including gating systems, runners, overflows, venting, and thermal management channels
- Direct experience conducting detailed Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews
- Ability to embed as a technical liaison onsite with OEM customers during development phases
Tooling Design & Simulation Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform advanced 3D flow, thermal, and solidification simulations using leading modeling tools
- Engineer and optimize die casting tooling layouts and associated thermal management systems
- Lead DFM reviews, providing actionable design recommendations based on simulation results
- Analyze and troubleshoot production tooling issues, implementing robust, lasting design improvements
- Serve as an onsite technical liaison with OEM engineering teams, supporting early development and ensuring alignment with manufacturing needs
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for all design iterations, simulation outcomes, and customer approvals
