Project Manager – Public Works Requirements & Qualifications
- 10+ years of construction experience, including significant work on wastewater treatment plant projects
- Experience as a project manager with a contractor
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid and CPR certification, and Competent Person training
- Ability to work in active construction and outdoor environments, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
Project Manager – Public Works Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience leading construction management for public sector utility or infrastructure projects
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities
Project Manager – Public Works Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary representative for the contractor, coordinating with internal teams, engineers, subcontractors, and the owner
- Oversee all field engineering activities, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery in compliance with project specifications
- Lead all aspects of pre-construction, job setup, and project documentation
- Develop and manage site logistics, material staging, and safety programs, consistently enforcing safety policies
- Coordinate and manage submittals, scheduling, change orders, and procurement of materials and services
- Lead and mentor the project management team, supporting hiring, coaching, and professional development
- Proactively identify and resolve project issues, ensuring high standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction
