General Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited university in business administration, hospitality, or related major
- 2-year degree plus 8+ years of management, operations, sales, or marketing experience
- OR 4-year bachelor’s degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrable leadership and operational experience in upscale or full-service environments
- Proven track record managing financials, guest satisfaction, and team performance
General Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Prior experience as a hotel general manager, ideally in luxury or full-service properties
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset; ability to identify innovative revenue streams and local partnerships
- History of progressive career growth and exceptional results
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, and evenings
General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead all facets of hotel operations, driving financial performance, guest satisfaction, and brand excellence
- Develop and execute strategic business plans to maximize profitability and market share
- Inspire, coach, and mentor a team of leaders and associates, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth
- Build strong community connections, elevating the hotel’s presence in Detroit and beyond
- Oversee quality assurance, property maintenance, and safety standards to deliver an exceptional guest experience
