Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a high-volume kitchen or similar role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to effectively supervise and motivate kitchen staff
- Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitation, and organizational standards
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience in family-style or large-capacity restaurants
- Comfort managing banquet or outdoor service settings
- Knowledge of current culinary trends and menu development
Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations for a restaurant
- Lead, train, and mentor a diverse culinary team to consistently deliver quality meals
- Ensure food preparation and presentation meet the restaurant’s high standards
- Collaborate in menu planning, ordering, and inventory control
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Contribute to a positive, guest-focused team culture
