Billing Specialist Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of law firm billing experience
- High proficiency with Coyote (now Finance Core) legal billing platform
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Adobe, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated experience billing attorney time and managing billing cycles
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Superior attention to detail, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work with highly confidential information
- Strong ability to independently prioritize workload and meet deadlines
Billing Specialist Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience working directly with law firm partners and clients
- Familiarity with e-billing portals and compliance management
Billing Specialist Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and edit prebills for attorney approval to ensure accuracy and client compliance
- Finalize invoices and submit them via email or through e-billing systems, including Coyote/Finance Core
- Upload invoices to client e-billing portals, resolving any rejections or compliance issues
- Monitor unbilled time, aged receivables, and outstanding invoices; assist with collections as needed
- Generate billing reports, accruals, and financial summaries
- Maintain accurate billing records and assist with year-end reporting, audits, and system upgrades
- Support the accounting department with special projects as required
