Practice Leader – Trusts and Estates Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in New Jersey or New York
- Significant experience in sophisticated trust and estate planning
- Proven ability to run complex client meetings independently
- Advanced drafting expertise in complex trust structures and entity planning
- Experience with generation-skipping transfer planning for high-value estates
- Ability to review, supervise, and mentor junior attorneys
Practice Leader – Trusts and Estates Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience advising clients with $20–30M+ in net worth
- Background in boutique or private client-focused law firms
- Interest in long-term practice leadership and mentorship
Practice Leader – Trusts and Estates Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead high-level client meetings with high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals and families
- Advise on estate planning, gift planning, and generation-skipping transfer strategies
- Design and execute sophisticated wealth transfer plans, including multigenerational and dynasty trusts, SLATs, GRATs, CRATs, QPRTs, and entity structures
- Prepare and review advanced estate planning documents and handle related tax filings
- Work with appraisers, accountants, and advisors on asset valuation and integrated planning
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior attorneys within the practice
