Director of Software Engineering Benefits and Compensation:
- Total compensation range: $180,000–$200,000
- Health, dental, and vision insurance through Aetna
- Company covers the majority of the base employee plan cost

- 100% of the first 3% and 50% of the next 2%

Director of Software Engineering Requirements & Qualifications
Must haves:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with 3–5+ years in technical leadership
- Proven ownership of system architecture across multi-product environments
- Deep experience with AWS including RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, VPC, S3, and IAM
- Strong command of TypeScript, Node.js, React, and React Native
- Hands-on expertise with high-volume data systems:
- PostgreSQL performance tuning and schema design
- OpenSearch indexing and scaling
- MongoDB document modeling
- Experience designing and stabilizing ETL pipelines, ingestion workflows, and distributed job systems
- Demonstrated accountability for uptime, reliability, observability, and incident prevention
- Ability to lead engineers of mixed seniority while setting clear standards and expectations
- Comfortable remaining hands-on roughly 20–30% of the time through code reviews, prototyping, and incident triage
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate technical risk into plain English
Director of Software Engineering Preferred Background & Skills
Nice to have:
- Experience supporting mobile applications at scale
- Background in high-data-volume consumer products
- Experience scaling shared databases or leading database separation initiatives
- Familiarity with marketplace, pricing data, or collectible-related platforms
- History of introducing structure without slowing teams down
- Leadership style that earns trust through clarity, competence, and follow-through
