Employment Law Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- Minimum 3 years of California plaintiff-side employment law or employment litigation experience
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a single-plaintiff caseload
- Direct experience handling discrimination, retaliation, or wrongful termination cases
- Experience litigating in California Superior Courts and U.S. District Courts
- Excellent client communication and organizational skills
Employment Law Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Trial preparation or trial experience
- Experience in high-growth or fast-moving law firms
- Spanish-speaking ability
Employment Law Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage California plaintiff-side employment matters from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery for state and federal court cases
- Conduct and defend depositions under the California Code of Civil Procedure
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Appear at mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings
- Prepare cases for arbitration and trial in various California forums
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and subject matter experts
