Position Summary
Seeking a senior-level Environmental Project Engineer to lead and deliver complex environmental and civil engineering projects. This role oversees project planning, investigation, design, budgeting, and team leadership while serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients. The position manages work from initial site assessment through project completion with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage environmental site investigations, interpret surface/subsurface data, and develop engineering recommendations.
- Plan and execute project scopes, schedules, budgets, and milestones; adjust resources and timelines as needed.
- Oversee preparation of technical reports, design documents, specifications, and proposal materials.
- Direct project teams and assign tasks across investigation, analysis, design, and QA/QC activities.
- Ensure engineering work adheres to professional standards, regulatory requirements, and contract specifications.
- Serve as primary client interface, providing updates and ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Mentor, coach, and develop staff; provide performance feedback and support career growth.
- Participate in business development through proposal support and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Stamp engineering work with PE license upon completion and verification.
- Travel up to 10% for project or site needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 8–10+ years of environmental/civil engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred/required.
- Proficiency with engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Rocscience tools, MS Office).
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to access project sites.
Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based with fieldwork approximately 10% of the time.
- Fieldwork may require walking uneven terrain and exposure to various weather conditions; PPE required.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs as needed.
