Geotechnical Engineer Project Engineer
Summary:
This is a growth-oriented role for an engineer with strong field experience who is ready to transition into project engineering. You will support and learn from senior engineers while gaining hands-on experience in project coordination, geotechnical analysis, reporting, and limited staff oversight—with a clear path toward a Project Engineer role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform geotechnical calculations, analysis, and technical problem-solving
- Assist with project planning, schedules, budgets, and staffing coordination
- Support preparation of proposals, reports, design documents, and bid packages
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and compliance
- Perform and oversee field testing (soil, concrete, rebar) and laboratory work
- Classify soils, evaluate subsurface conditions, and prepare technical reports
- Coordinate with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies as needed
- Supervise and support field personnel on assigned projects
- Travel frequently for field assignments (25–75%, may include out-of-state)

- Effective communicator with clients, field staff, and project teams
- Willingness to pursue PE licensure if not already licensed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
- 3–5 years of geotechnical, construction, or field engineering experience
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (required or ability to obtain)
- Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, geotechnical software, and MS Office
- Valid driver’s license and ability to access job sites
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions
Work Environment:
- Mix of office and field work
- Fieldwork includes uneven terrain and all weather conditions
- Safety equipment required during field assignments
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $90,000–$120,000
- Mileage reimbursement and bonus potential
