Senior Trust & Estates Attorney Requirements & Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Must reside in New Jersey
- Active New Jersey Bar admission, in good standing
- Must reside in New Jersey and able to attend court as needed
- 8+ years of experience in Trusts & Estates law
- Demonstrated expertise in estate planning, tax law, and trust administration
- Proven ability to manage sensitive client matters with discretion and integrity
- Strong trial or litigation experience preferred
- Portable book of business or active cases preferred
Must Haves:
- Draft and review wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents
- Structure and oversee estate and trust administration matters
- Supervise the preparation of fiduciary income, estate, and gift tax returns
- Analyze and quantify the tax impacts of estate and business succession plans
- Represent clients in probate or Surrogate’s Court proceedings
- Manage and delegate work to paralegal support staff
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, providing clear, compassionate counsel during complex and emotional matters
Senior Trust & Estates Attorney Preferred Background & Skills:
- Advanced understanding of federal and state tax laws and estate tax principles
- Experience drafting operating and shareholder agreements
- Exceptional writing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High emotional intelligence and client empathy
- A collaborative approach and desire to contribute to a positive firm culture
