Controller
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead all financial operations for a fast-growing e-commerce wine business. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic industry, overseeing accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in e-commerce and inventory-driven businesses, particularly within the regulatory landscape of alcohol sales across the U.S.

Controller Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5–10+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role.
- Experience in e-commerce, DTC, retail, or inventory-focused businesses required; wine or alcohol industry experience strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance (including multi-state tax and alcohol licensing).
- Strong fluency with accounting systems (NetSuite and QuickBooks) and e-commerce integrations.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities.
Controller Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, month-end close, and general ledger management.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local alcohol regulations, including licensing, tax reporting, and distribution rules.
- Lead inventory accounting across warehouses, 3PLs, and direct-fulfillment partners.
- Optimize accounting systems, integrations, and tech stack workflows with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, NetSuite, homegrown systems).
- Manage and mentor accounting staff of five as well as external bookkeeping resources.
