We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst to evaluate the creditworthiness of high-risk applicants. The ideal candidate has experience in subprime lending, a strong understanding of alternative credit data, and the ability to balance risk with business growth in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Credit Analyst Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze credit data, income documentation, and financial statements of subprime applicants.
- Assess risk and provide recommendations on lease approvals, modifications, or declines in alignment with company policy and risk appetite.
- Leverage alternative credit data sources—including personal and business credit reports, bank statements, and background checks—for comprehensive credit assessments.
- Perform manual underwriting and apply professional judgment beyond standard credit scores and models.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and internal regulations, including FCRA, ECOA, and fair lending laws.
Credit Analyst Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or risk management, preferably in subprime auto, personal, or mortgage lending.
- Strong understanding of subprime borrower behavior and associated risk factors.
- Proficiency in credit scoring models, underwriting systems, and financial analysis tools.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with manual underwriting is highly desirable.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Familiarity with technology tools such as Excel and Salesforce.
- Experience in fintech or non-traditional lending environments.
