Veterinary ER/ICU Manager Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of ~50 technicians, assistants, and staff through scheduling, training, mentorship, performance reviews, and conflict resolution
- Oversee patient care quality, ensuring the highest standards of emergency and critical care medicine are consistently met
- Serve as a clinical resource, applying mastery of advanced procedures such as anesthesia, central line placement, ventilator management, intubations, and more
- Provide triage leadership, quickly assessing and prioritizing critically ill or injured patients
- Monitor and manage specialized medical equipment, including advanced monitoring systems and ventilators
- Collaborate with doctors, staff, and other departments to ensure smooth clinic operations and a positive client experience
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful, emotional situations.
- Identify and implement improvements that increase efficiency, staff engagement, and patient outcomes
Veterinary ER/ICU Manager Requirements
- Advanced clinical knowledge in emergency and critical care medicine, surgery, and pharmacology
- Technical proficiency in ER/ICU procedures such as inductions, airway management, and catheter placement
- Leadership experience overseeing large teams with demonstrated ability in training, development, and conflict resolution
- Strong communication skills—able to handle client discussions with empathy and staff collaboration with professionalism
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to solve problems and drive improvements
- Flexibility to maintain a primarily M–F schedule with occasional weekend or after-hours needs
- Education/credentials: RVT preferred, though other veterinary-related education or training will be strongly considered
