Our client who is a leading commercial real estate advisory and management firm is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join its team. This role is responsible for managing the accounting and reporting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring financial accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company and client standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in property management accounting and proficiency with Yardi or MRI systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
- Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Conduct variance analysis for income statements and balance sheets.
- Prepare and enter journal entries including recurring, reversing, adjusting, and accrual entries.
- Process monthly recoveries, AR reconciliations, and CAM/Escalation calculations.
- Review and approve accounts payable invoices, rental edits, and AR billing adjustments.
- Maintain accurate cash balances, prepare funding requests, and execute wire transfers as needed.
- Ensure the timely preparation of tax filings, business licenses, and management fee calculations.
- Collaborate with Property Managers and other accounting staff to ensure accurate reporting and data entry.
- Assist with audit packages, owner distributions, and special financial reporting projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 1–5 years of property management accounting experience required.
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager (required); experience with MRI strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
