Project Architect
📍 Carlsbad, CA | Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule
💵 $100,000–$130,000 per year (based on education, qualifications, and experience)

About the Role
We are seeking a licensed Project Architect to join an established Architecture Department within a full-service Design-Build organization specializing in military and federal construction projects. The Project Architect will actively manage multiple projects and provide technical oversight across a variety of disciplines including fire protection/life safety, civil, landscape architecture, structural, interior design, mechanical/plumbing, electrical, and telecommunications/audio visual/security.
This individual will serve as a technical leader within the design team, ensuring compliance with building codes and federal requirements while managing client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
This position is based out of Carlsbad, CA with a hybrid schedule (in-office Monday–Wednesday; optional remote Thursday–Friday).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate multi-discipline project teams.
- Perform schematic layouts, preliminary design, and detailing.
- Oversee construction documentation and ensure accuracy.
- Participate in design reviews with clients and governing agencies.
- Manage workload of architecture team members across project phases.
- Review drawings for interdisciplinary conflicts.
- Write and edit architectural specifications (SpecsIntact).
- Support QA/QC and Independent Technical Reviews (ITRs).
- Coordinate with consultants on addenda, RFIs, and change orders.
- Serve as primary point of contact for multi-million-dollar projects.
- Assist in construction administration and project design scheduling.
Qualifications
- Registered Architect (required); NCARB certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 15+ years of experience with construction documentation on projects valued at $30M–$150M.
- Strong understanding of civil, structural, MEP, and low-voltage systems.
- Advanced technical knowledge in detailing, codes, and construction practices.
- Proficiency with Revit (required); Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, SpecsIntact, and MS Office.
- Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) projects and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel 20–30% as needed.

- Salary Range: $100,000–$130,000 annually (based on qualifications and experience).
