Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef
- At least 5 years of culinary experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Valid New York Food Handler’s License
- Proven leadership skills (formal or natural ability to lead teams)
- Strong knife skills (must provide own knives)
- Engage directly with guests in a warm and welcoming manner—our open kitchen encourages conversation, curiosity, and connection
- Solid knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
- Experience in fast-paced, upscale/polished dining environments
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills:
- Lead a station from prep through service with consistency and attention to detail
- Manage kitchen inventory and vendor relationships, including placing and tracking orders
- Execute daily meal prep with precision, speed, and efficiency
- Ensure all prep, service, and storage areas meet DOH sanitation and safety standards
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and cleanliness during service
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new, seasonal, market-driven dishes
- Follow restaurant closing procedures to ensure a clean and organized kitchen at end of service
