Omakase Head Chef – Cambodia Expat

Our client seeks a seasoned, and creative Omakase Head Chef for the flagship of their growing restaurant group. We are looking for a head chef who can bring a unique flare to Omakase style, yet collaborate effectively with the Group Chef on culinary direction.

The successful candidate will lead in a premier 16-seat omakase restaurant led by executive chef partner.

The company operates six locations across five concepts – all Japanese inspired so far,

With 120 employees across all locations, we are seeking a passionate and skilled Omakase Head Chef to lead the premier dining experience in Cambodia.

 

Omakase Head Chef Benefits and Compensation:

·       Cambodian taxes paid by company – salary is net of local taxes 

·      The salary is net and paid out in full.

·       Work and accident insurance provided 

·       Housing stipend of up to $500 monthly sufficient for a one-bedroom in a good location 

·       Annual flights home and back, plus expatriation and repatriation flights to/from Cambodia 

·       Tips plus 5% service charge split with team members 

·       Company-provided visas

 

Omakase Head Chef Qualifications:

 

·       Minimum 5 years of experience as a sushi or omakase chef 

·       Expertise in Japanese cuisine, particularly omakase-style dining 

·       Proven leadership in a high-end restaurant environment 

·       Strong knowledge of seafood sourcing and preparation 

·       Ability to manage a small, high-performance kitchen team 

·       Conversational in English and Japanese required

 

Omakase Head Chef Preferred Background: 

·       Previous experience in Michelin-starred or equivalent fine-dining Omakase restaurants 

·       Familiarity with Cambodian or Southeast Asian culinary markets 

·       Training in traditional Japanese knife skills and techniques including Edomae styles 

·       Experience designing seasonal omakase menus 

·       Strong interpersonal skills for guest interaction- disciplined and collaborative 

·       Passion for mentoring junior chefs
