This is a hands-on, on-site role in Sunset Park, Brooklyn where you’ll manage complex construction-related payables, work closely with project managers and procurement, and ensure financial accuracy during a company-wide transition from QuickBooks to Vista Viewpoint accounting software.

Accounts Payable Specialist – Benefits and Compensation

Accounts Payable Specialist – Requirements & Qualifications (Hunter’s Screening Priorities)
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience in the construction industry (steel, subcontracting, or related trade strongly preferred)
- Strong QuickBooks proficiency
- Experience with three-way matching (invoice, PO, packing slip/bill of lading)
- Ability to manage high-volume, construction-specific vendor invoices
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Must Haves (Day-to-Day Tasks Specific to This Role)
- Process high volumes of vendor invoices for materials, equipment rentals, crane services, engineering, and subcontractors
- Perform three-way match and ensure compliance with PO and job cost coding
- Enter transactions into QuickBooks and later Vista Viewpoint
- Collaborate with procurement and project managers to resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and execute weekly check runs; manage ACH payments (transition back to ACH planned)
- Support AP-related month-end close tasks and provide reports to the Assistant Controller and VP of Finance
Accounts Payable Specialist – Preferred Background & Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience with Quickbooks
- Familiarity with construction billing processes
- Knowledge of lien waivers and compliance documentation for subcontractor/vendor payments
- Understanding of job cost reporting and CSI codes
- Prior experience supporting a system migration or accounting software implementation
