Technical Buyer – About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and technically inclined Technical Buyer to support the procurement of specialized parts and equipment for custom-built mechanical systems. This role is ideal for someone experienced in buying machines or technical components for small organizations—particularly in project-based environments with custom or low-volume builds. If you’ve worked closely with engineering teams or sourced one-off mechanical assemblies, this could be a strong fit.

Technical Buyer – Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing and purchasing of mechanical parts and equipment for construction and maintenance projects
- Develop procurement plans aligned with project timelines and technical drawings (BOMs)
- Identify, qualify, and manage vendor relationships for specialized components
- Review quality documentation and arrange factory acceptance inspections as needed
- Coordinate logistics with internal teams and third-party providers
- Maintain accurate inventory records and procurement metrics
- Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations to align purchasing strategies
- Track procurement KPIs and assist with cash flow and budget planning
Technical Buyer – Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a technical purchasing or procurement role
- Proven background in sourcing for one-off or small-run mechanical systems
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and technical documentation
- Proficiency with ERP systems or procurement tools
- Willingness to travel up to 10% if needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical engineering background or experience working alongside engineering teams
- Experience in industries such as aerospace, R&D, custom manufacturing, or industrial design
- Familiarity with vendor quality assurance processes and technical inspections
