Operations Manager Needed for Leading Recycling & Sustainability Organization
Currently seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to lead a busy recycling facility from intake to merchandise outbound. You’ll oversee yard logistics, fleet coordination, equipment upkeep, and staffing—ensuring efficiency, safety, and top-tier compliance at every step
Responsibilities
- Lead hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of yard personnel—material handlers, operators, and loaders—while promoting safety and productivity.
- Coordinate daily logistics (sorting, baling, loading/unloading) to meet production goals.
- Schedule inspections and preventive maintenance for balers, shears, forklifts, and heavy equipment to reduce downtime.
- Enforce compliance with safety regulations, lead PPE use and safety initiatives, and maintain incident tracking.
- Monitor KPIs (throughput, equipment use, labor efficiency), identify process improvements, and assist in budgeting.
- Manage vendor, hauler, and customer relationships to ensure on-time delivery and quality service.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years in scrap/recycling or materials-handling operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge of yard equipment—balers, shears, forklifts, material handlers—and experience planning maintenance.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in staff development, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Solid understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, R2) and full compliance experience.
- Analytical ability to interpret operational data, monitor KPIs, and recommend process improvements using budget insight.
