Immigration Removal Attorney Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
- Prepare comprehensive legal briefs, motions, and other filings, including cancellation of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, CAT claims, and waivers of inadmissibility.
- Attend master calendar and individual hearings, ensuring thorough preparation and strategic defense.
- Prepare and file various forms including I-130, I-485, I-601A, I-601, I-212, I-918 (U visas), VAWA petitions, and asylum applications.
- Provide legal guidance and support for adjustment of status, consular processing, and special immigrant juvenile status (SIJS) cases.
- Draft legal arguments, motions to reopen/reconsider, appeals, and supporting documentation in removal defense cases.
- Maintain open and empathetic communication with clients facing critical immigration situations.
- Manage a diverse caseload with precision, timeliness, and meticulous attention to detail.
Immigration Removal Attorney Qualifications:
- Must have a solid foundation in U.S. immigration law, particularly in removal and deportation proceedings, and a strong commitment to client advocacy.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
- Active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (New York, preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience practicing immigration law with a focus on removal defense preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling EOIR matters, client hearings, and preparing complex case filings.
- Fluency in Spanish or another second language strongly preferred.
