Structural (Bridge) Engineer Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering
- NBIS-qualified Team Leader
- Structural design experience (bridges)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with contractors, clients, and project partners
- Proficiency in relevant engineering tools and willingness to learn new software
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Must Haves:
- Lead and perform NBIS-compliant bridge inspections, including fieldwork and reporting
- Execute bridge load ratings and develop comprehensive, detailed reports
- Design new, rehabilitated, and replacement bridge structures for highway, rail, and pedestrian use
- Coordinate closely with CAD designers and stakeholders to develop construction-ready plans
- Participate in cost estimating, proposal writing, and project specifications beyond just design tasks
Structural (Bridge) Engineer Preferred Background & Skills:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in MA, RI, or other states
- Completion of NHI bridge inspection or ancillary structure courses
- Familiarity with MassDOT, Massport, DCR, and MBTA bridge programs
- Experience managing multiple phases of a project, from inspection through construction
- Strong organizational skills and ability to mentor junior engineers
