The Senior Traffic Civil Engineer will bring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a forward-thinking, innovative mindset to the role. Working collaboratively with staff, consultants, and regional partners such as Caltrans and SACOG, this individual will help develop and implement intelligent transportation systems, integrated multi-modal networks, and smart city technologies.

Sr. Traffic Civil Engineer Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, review, and supervise the work of assigned personnel engaged in professional engineering tasks.
- Oversee engineering projects involving the design, surveying, testing of materials, and construction of public infrastructure, including roads, bike and pedestrian pathways, drainage systems, bridges, traffic systems, and intelligent transportation networks.
- Lead complex engineering planning studies and initiatives.
- Coordinate development services, including collaboration with development partners, review of complex development applications and specific plans, and preparation of conditions of approval.
- Perform a range of advanced engineering duties specific to the assigned area of responsibility.
- Provide administrative and technical support to the assigned manager.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as required within the Public Works Department.
Sr. Traffic Civil Engineer Requirements:
- Current valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of California.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred.
- 8–10 years of civil engineering experience, ideally at a Senior or Principal level.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- Experience managing and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong expertise in engineering design and grant acquisition/management.
- A Master's degree in civil engineering may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City.
