A nationally accredited proprietary school in Oakland County seeks an experienced Financial Aid Manager to lead the financial aid department. This role includes oversight of Title IV funding and institutional scholarships in compliance with strict federal guidelines. Key Responsibilities for Financial Aid Manager:
- Maintain structured schedule to meet all deadlines
- Process FAFSAs for all applicants
- Provide accurate financial aid information to prospective students
- Calculate Pell Grants and Direct Stafford Loans correctly
- Administer and disburse veterans' education benefits
- Manage student files with third-party servicer
- Calculate refunds for withdrawals or dismissals (R2T4)
- Make professional judgements for students with special circumstances
- Ensure entrance/exit counseling for Title IV recipients
- Request disbursements post-50% program completion
- Post aid to student accounts and reconcile transactions
- Monitor academic progress of aid recipients
- Implement strategies to maintain low alumni default rates
- Complete required federal reports (IPEDS, SSCRs, Gainful Employment)
- Update ECAR and PPA as needed
- Evening hours required occasionally to meet student needs
Required Qualifications for Financial Aid Manager:
- In-depth knowledge of federal/state financial aid regulations
- Minimum 3 years' experience in financial aid leadership within post-secondary education
- Experience managing verifications, proration, professional judgments, and compliance
- Familiarity with R2T4 calculations and loan adjustments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems
