Position: Senior Practice Leader – Groundwater & Environmental Remediation
Location: New York City
Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 base, plus performance incentives and equity path
A specialized engineering consultancy dedicated to sustainable infrastructure and environmental resilience is seeking a Practice Leader to launch and lead its groundwater and remediation design group. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental or water resources eleader who wants to build a forward-facing practice —one that aligns with global goals for clean water access and responsible stewardship of natural resources.
This is not a legacy role. You’ll shape the vision, develop the business, and define the technical direction of a key growth area within the firm. You’ll be supported by a nimble, mission-driven team and the organizational flexibility to do impactful work—without the red tape of a large corporate structure. Our firm often complements larger engineering and consulting firms by offering highly focused project delivery across environmental planning, infrastructure design, and program/construction management.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development of a dedicated groundwater and remediation design practice with a clear focus on sustainable water access and preservation
- Provide senior-level technical oversight for projects involving groundwater modeling, pump/treat system design, and environmental remediation strategies
- Serve as a client-facing leader—engaging with current partners and pursuing strategic growth opportunities across public and private sectors
- Mentor staff and build a practice-wide culture rooted in technical excellence, accountability, and innovation
- Collaborate with leadership to shape the firm’s broader service offerings related to water infrastructure and environmental restoration
- Contribute to internal strategic planning, with a clear path toward equity participation and firm ownership
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of experience in groundwater, remediation, or water resources engineering, with a strong track record of successful project delivery and client development
- Expertise in designing and managing pumping systems, groundwater modeling, and contaminated site remediation
- A leader with a strategic mindset and the business acumen to grow and sustain a profitable practice; ideal candidates can bring a book of business with them
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; advanced degree in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, or a related field strongly desired
- Ability to work on-site in New York City
Why This Role:
- Autonomy to lead: Establish and grow a practice area with full support from firm leadership
- Make a global impact: Contribute directly to initiatives aligned with Sustainable Development Goal #6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
- Compensation and future: Competitive salary, annual bonuses, and an equity track for long-term partnership
- Meaningful work: Tackle some of the most pressing challenges in water access, quality, and environmental health
If you’re ready to build something meaningful in the water and environmental sector—and lead a team that prioritizes solutions over bureaucracy—we want to hear from you.
