Power Electronics Engineer
Responsibilities
- Work with multi-disciplined engineering team to develop new power conversion products for multiple vehicle segments
- Provide technical support for legacy products
- Creation of hardware specifications, circuit designs, theories of operations and proper component selection based on inputs from design requirements documentation
- Collaborate with PCB and Mechanical Engineers for product and power stage designs with an emphasis on maximum efficiency, EMI containment and thermal management
- Collaborate with Software Engineers to define power stage controls and protection strategies
- Interact with Product Development Engineers to review test results and assist with non-compliance resolution
- Assist with the selection of power electronic components for legacy products should an become obsolete or approach end of life status
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years of experience designing high frequency, high power electronic power conversion products (LV DC-DC, HV DC-DC, DC-AC, Motor Drives) for vehicles
- Experience with resonant conversion and soft switched topologies
- Experience designing high frequency custom magnetics
- Experience with circuit simulation and thermal calculations
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with all engineering disciplines, including manufacturing/production
- Ability to manage priorities on multiple projects
- Occasional travel may be required
- Software Tools Experience
- Microsoft Office Suite
- LT Spice or equivalent for circuit simulation/analytics
Additional Desired Requirements:
- Familiarity with high-voltage (700V-2kV) and high-current (10A-600A) products
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards (SAE, ISO, UL, etc)
- Familiarity with mobile industrial markets related to hybrid, BEB, and FCEB vehicles
- Altium PCB design software familiarity for schematic creation/markup up
