About the Opportunity
A growing billboard installation and maintenance company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer / Operations Executive to lead operations across Texas and the Southeast. Based in Dallas, this executive will oversee field operations, safety, team development, equipment, and financial performance.
This opportunity is well suited for a hands-on construction leader with experience in structural steel, steel erection, steel fabrication and installation, steel billboard construction, steel water tower construction or maintenance, telecommunications towers, industrial construction, or related field services. Experience managing crews working at heights, coordinating cranes and rigging, and executing complex field projects is highly relevant.
What You Will Do
- Lead company-wide operations across multiple markets, supporting operations managers, regional field leadership, foremen, and installation crews.
- Establish clear expectations for safety, productivity, quality, accountability, and customer service.
- Own safety performance, review incidents, reinforce training, and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.
- Oversee crew scheduling, project sequencing, equipment availability, subcontractors, and coordination of cranes, concrete, and customer-provided materials.
- Manage labor efficiency, overtime, job costs, and project margins.
- Take ownership of operational P&L performance and review monthly financial results with executive leadership.
- Ensure accurate change orders, effective project handoffs, and timely final billing.
- Recruit, develop, and retain strong field and office teams.
- Lead regular scheduling and foreman meetings, performance reviews, and employee training.
- Oversee fleet vehicles, aerial work platforms, welding equipment, tools, and preventive maintenance.
- Resolve escalated project, personnel, and customer issues with sound judgment.
- Partner directly with the President and CEO to support growth and improve operating performance.
What We Are Looking For
- Senior operations leadership experience in construction, structural steel, steel erection, industrial field services, or a related industry.
- Experience leading multiple field crews, foremen, and operations leaders across different locations.
- Strong safety leadership in environments involving elevated work, heavy equipment, cranes, rigging, or welding.
- Demonstrated P&L responsibility and the ability to manage labor costs, budgets, and project profitability.
- A direct, approachable leadership style with strong coaching and accountability skills.
- The ability to make decisions, solve problems, and remain calm under pressure.
- Willingness to work in the Dallas office and travel periodically to job sites and regional offices.
Relevant backgrounds may include: steel billboard installation, outdoor advertising structures, structural steel erection, steel water towers, elevated water storage tanks, telecommunications tower construction, commercial sign installation, and industrial construction operations.
Compensation and Benefits
- $130,000–$140,000 annual base salary
- Bonus incentives
- Healthcare supplement available after 60 days of employment
