Commercial Roofing Estimator – Flat Roofing & Waterproofing
Location: Nassau County, NY / NYC Metropolitan Area
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $90,000–$110,000, depending on experience
About the Opportunity
Our client, an established specialty construction contractor, is seeking a Commercial Roofing Estimator to support commercial roofing and waterproofing projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Projects include high-rise and low-rise buildings, flat roofing systems, building renovations, plaza decks, terraces, and specialty waterproofing applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a solid commercial roofing background who wants to take greater ownership of the estimating process and grow with an established contractor.
Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine project scope.
- Perform digital quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu.
- Prepare estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and related project costs.
- Estimate commercial flat-roofing systems, including modified bitumen, insulation, flashing, and sheet metal.
- Assist with estimating waterproofing, plaza decks, terraces, and related building envelope systems.
- Obtain and evaluate material pricing from vendors and suppliers.
- Identify scope discrepancies, exclusions, and potential project risks.
- Prepare bid proposals, pricing breakdowns, and supporting documentation.
- Manage multiple estimates and meet bid submission deadlines.
- Coordinate with company leadership, project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant commercial roofing or specialty construction estimating experience.
- Hands-on proficiency with Bluebeam Revu is required, including digital takeoffs and quantity measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of commercial flat-roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating calculations.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial waterproofing, sheet metal, insulation, or building envelope systems.
- Familiarity with NYC commercial construction projects and high-rise building logistics.
- Experience with estimating platforms beyond Bluebeam, as well as Procore or similar systems.
- Relationships with roofing suppliers, manufacturers, or subcontractors.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $90,000–$110,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
