Customer Transition Project Manager

This is a time bound, on-the-ground execution role supporting transition from its existing Internationally billed export model to a fully US-based subsidiary billing structure. As the Project Manager – Customer Transition, you will work out of the Indianapolis warehouse and will drive the customer workstream through this transition — ensuring old and new inventory remain cleanly separated, and that each customer’s account-specific changes (new supplier/PO codes, EDI reconfiguration, billing terms) are executed without disruption to service.

This is a Contract role 6–9-month ($65 to $75 per hour) engagement but could lead to a permanent position.

Customer Transition Project Manager Responsibilities:

•    Own the on-ground execution of the customer-by-customer transition plan from International Co to the USA billing.

•    Coordinate directly with each customer account team to manage account-specific changes — including new supplier/vendor codes, updated PO structures, and EDI reconfiguration.

•    Track and manage cutover timing for each customer, ensuring no disruption to order fulfilment during the transition window.

•    Coordinate end-to-end trial runs with customers to validate order processing, invoicing, and delivery workflows ahead of go-live.

•    Serve as primary on-ground point of contact for customer queries related to the transition.

•    Work with the Technology and Finance workstreams to ensure PO code changes and EDI updates are correctly mapped and tested for each customer.

•    Support the running of parallel supplier codes per customer during the transition period, coordinating between WMS and SAP.

•    Act as the day-to-day, on-ground liaison with Warehouse Associates on inventory segregation, WMS instance set-up, and process changes.

•    Support training & alignment of warehouse teams on new SOPs.

•    Escalate warehouse bottlenecks to the Business Head & relevant workstream owners.

•    Provide regular status updates to the MD and CEO – Americas and relevant workstream owners across Customer & SCM, Finance, and Technology.

•    Support the two-track inventory model — existing stock billed directly to customers vs. new stock billed to USA Co — in coordination with the warehouse management system (WMS).

•    Track inventory obsolescence risk on old stock and flag issues before they carry into the new entity’s books.

•    Support regular reconciliation between WMS and SAP for inventory volumes and values.

Customer Transition Project Manager Qualifications and Benefits:

•    Hourly rate of $65 to $75 per hour. 40 hours per week – project to last 6-9 months.

•    Could lead into a permanent position.

•    Large International, stable company / strong leadership.

•    Flexible schedule. Hybrid / 3-4 days per week- remote / Some travel. Expenses paid for.

•    Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous, early-stage environment with evolving processes.

•    High attention to detail, particularly around inventory and billing data accuracy.

•    Strong stakeholder management — able to coordinate across warehouse teams, finance, technology, and customer stakeholders in the US and India.

•    Working knowledge of inventory management and WMS systems.

•    Familiarity with EDI, PO management, and order-to-cash processes.

•    Exposure to ERP systems (SAP preferred) and a basic understanding of finance/billing reconciliation.

•    Strong Excel skills for tracking and reporting.

•    Excellent communicator, comfortable working directly with customers and warehouse operations staff.

•    5–10 years of experience in project management, supply chain, or operations roles, ideally including inventory management or customer-facing operations.

•    Prior experience with ERP/WMS transitions, entity transitions, or M&A integration-style operational work strongly preferred.

•    Experience in automotive, industrial, or distribution/warehouse environments preferred.

•    Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, business, or a related field.
