A respected multi-disciplined civil engineering firm serving public, private, and institutional clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region is seeking a Bridge Designer/Engineer with bridge inspection experience. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful transportation projects involving the planning, inspection, and structural design of state and locally owned highway structures.

Bridge Designer/Engineer Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Civil Engineering program.
- Between 4 and 10 years of relevant experience.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
- Proficiency with MS Office, MathCAD, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
- Valid driver’s license.
Bridge Designer/Engineer Preferred Background & Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in Pennsylvania.
- Training in NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
- PennDOT Bridge Safety Inspector Certification.
- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience with structural design, load rating, and inspection.
- Familiarity with PennDOT and/or PTC design standards and bridge management systems (BMS2, BMS3).
- Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu and engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, and related tools.
- Experience with Bentley OpenBridge Modeler or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
Bridge Designer/Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Participate in bridge inspections and prepare detailed inspection reports.
- Perform structural load rating calculations and apply engineering principles in bridge and highway structure design.
- Create plan details using CAD software.
- Collaborate on the design of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls, and highway interchanges.
- Perform structural calculations and assist in quantity development and cost estimation.
- Conduct site visits and support proposal development as needed.
This role involves fieldwork requiring physical activity such as ladder climbing, navigating uneven surfaces, and exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and adaptable to diverse field settings.
