Pastry Sous Chef – New York City
A growing, chef-driven hospitality group is seeking an experienced Pastry Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team in New York City. This full-time management role offers the opportunity to oversee pastry production across restaurant dining, private events, and a retail bakery component, with a focus on quality and seasonal menu development.

Pastry Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years management experience in NYC restaurants
- Strong pastry and baking fundamentals with hands-on production ability
- Current NYC Food Protection Certificate required
- Experience with inventory management, ordering, scheduling, and kitchen administration
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
Pastry Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Passion for seasonally driven pastry and menu development
- Proven track record of leading, training, and developing pastry or culinary teams
- Positive, energetic leadership style that motivates and inspires
Pastry Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pastry production and execution across multiple outlets
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all pastry and bakery items
- Work hands-on alongside the pastry team during high-volume production and service
- Lead, train, coach, and develop pastry cooks and bakery team members
- Manage scheduling, timekeeping, inventory, and product ordering based on volume and menu changes
- Maintain compliance with health and safety standards and support payroll administration
- Collaborate with culinary leadership on menu development, seasonal offerings, and recipe documentation
