Our client is seeking a Commercial Loan Officer (BDO) to drive commercial loan growth, develop new business relationships, and manage lending opportunities from origination through closing. The ideal candidate will have strong CRE lending experience, financial analysis skills, and a proven ability to build and maintain referral relationships.
Commercial Loan Officer Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary: $100,000–$130,000
- Eligible for the Commercial Lender Incentive Program

Commercial Loan Officer Responsibilities & Duties:
- Originate, evaluate, and structure commercial lending opportunities, including CRE, term loans, lines of credit, and SBA 7(a)/504 products
- Conduct initial financial analysis and pre-screening to evaluate creditworthiness and deal viability
- Manage loan pipelines and coordinate with underwriting, closing, and administration teams through closing
- Serve as a primary point of contact for borrowers, credit union partners, and internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain referral relationships with CPAs, brokers, attorneys, and other business professionals
- Develop new business opportunities through networking, community involvement, and industry events
- Educate clients and partners on lending solutions and support long-term relationship growth
- Monitor commercial lending market trends and collaborate on business development initiatives
- Maintain a high level of responsiveness, professionalism, and service throughout the lending process
Commercial Loan Officer Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of commercial real estate lending experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial loan products, credit analysis, and underwriting fundamentals
- Strong financial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial statements and assess credit risk
- Knowledge of commercial lending markets, industry trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics
- Strong relationship-building, communication, sales, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple deals, deadlines, and projects simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate effectively with borrowers, partners, and internal teams
- Syndication/participation lending experience is highly preferred
- Proven ability to identify opportunities, structure solutions, overcome objections, and close deals
- Must reside in the Chicago area
