Safety Manager — Retained Search
About the role:
Our retained recruiting client is a Denver-based commercial subcontractor specializing in drywall, framing, painting, wallcovering, and acoustical ceiling tile installation, with divisions covering the Denver metro, Northern Colorado, and ACT. We're looking for a Safety Manager to lead safety across our crews and job sites.
This is a specialty contractor safety role, not a general contractor role. The person in this position won't be running a single sitewide safety program. They'll be managing safety for our own crews across multiple active job sites at once, working within each general contractor's site-specific safety plan while also owning our company-wide safety program, OSHA recordkeeping, and workers' comp process.
What you'll do:
– Conduct safety walks and toolbox talks across active job sites
– Lead new hire safety orientation and ongoing training
– Maintain OSHA 300 logs and required recordkeeping
– Manage incident investigations and workers' comp claims from first report through closeout, including all required documentation for Pinnacol/CCIG
– Coordinate directly with occupational clinics on injury treatment, drug testing, and follow-up care
– Serve as the communication link between the field and the office on incidents, making sure claims, paperwork, and status updates move quickly and don't get lost in the handoff
– Prepare and submit job-specific safety submittals (site-specific safety plans, JHAs, and other documentation required by each GC) before work starts on a project
– Ensure our crews meet both OSHA standards and each GC's site-specific safety requirements
– Track certifications across the workforce and flag renewals
What we're looking for:
– Bilingual – English and Spanish Fluency
– Experience with trade-specific hazards: fall protection, silica exposure, scaffold and ladder safety
– OSHA 30 required; CHST, CSP, or ASP strongly preferred; OSHA 500 a plus if training crews in-house
– Experience managing safety across multiple job sites rather than one fixed site
– Experience at a subcontractor preferred over general contractor experience only
– Comfortable working independently and traveling between sites in the Denver metro and Northern Colorado
Included Benefits:
Vehicle or Vehicle Allowance ($700/mo)
Health ($250 to individual paid by Starr), Dental
2 weeks Vacation, 1 week Holidays.
$50 cell phone monthly credit
Bonus of 10%+ of salary based on agreed-upon yearly safety metrics
