A growing law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Insurance Coverage Counsel with 10+ years of insurance coverage experience to join its expanding practice. This role is primarily advisory and focused on complex coverage analysis, strategic claims guidance, legal research, and high-level written work for insurer clients. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling sophisticated coverage issues independently while working closely with clients and other attorneys.
Job Responsibilities:
- Advise insurance clients on complex coverage issues involving commercial liability, excess coverage, and other third-party claims
- Prepare detailed coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, coverage position letters, legal memoranda, and related analysis
- Research and analyze complex legal and factual issues affecting insurance coverage and claim determinations
- Work directly with claims professionals, in-house counsel, and client representatives to develop practical coverage strategies and recommendations
- Manage multiple matters, deadlines, client communications, and case-related priorities while maintaining a high level of work product
Job Requirements:
- 10+ years of substantive insurance coverage experience, with third-party coverage experience strongly preferred
- Active license and good standing in California, Washington, or another U.S. jurisdiction; California or Washington admission preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex matters independently while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience working collaboratively and mentoring, training, or developing junior attorneys
